If you have always wanted to try ballet, but never got around to it, now is your time! Join this class for an evening of inspiring movement and work towards learning a famous variation. Ballet is widely regarding as the most difficult yet most beautiful dance form in the world. Left, right and centre, we are bombarded with the idea that it is something that we have to start young. This couldn’t be further from the truth! Ballet is something we can enjoy at any age and dancing is something that is natural to each and every one of us. It is healing, rejuvenating and invigorating, so give it a go! These classes aim to help those completely new to ballet to understand more about the art form, how dance can be used in storytelling and how to convey our emotions and narratives through our bodies. The classes focus on one variation every four weeks, giving students the time to develop skill, technique and artistry. You will learn ballet terminology and steps but unlike most dance classes, we have a strong focus on individual expression. We want to help people enjoy dancing, as opposed to just mastering it! The classes can be block booked or attended on a drop-in basis. Suitable for those with no prior experience of ballet and beginner ballet students. Also suitable for improvers who would like to learn work inspired by professional repertoire. We focus on one variation over the course of 4 weeks, this is to help students work towards a complete routine; a highly effective way to gradually build up your knowledge of repertoire and ballet fundamentals.
