The original Jump Rope class in London - 16 years and still going.
We aim to get people used to jumping rope the right way, safely and effectively. Having trained hundreds of people over the last 16 years, I can attest to how it really changes lives.
We take the jump rope and make it the centrepiece of the workout. 90 second to 2 minute intervals of jump rope interspersed with bodyweight exercises and drills.
There's 4 aims: - Learn to jump rope - Develop your biomotor abilities (speed, strength, endurance, coordination, balance) - Have fun - Get fitter
1. We start with a warm up to loosen up all the joints and muscles you'll need with dynamic stretching and pulse raisers. 2. Then a tutorial on a specific movement and appropriate regressions and progressions along with detailed coaching points. 3. We then head into the main session of skipping progressing each interval from basic to advanced moves. 4. Between each interval, we'll have a brief rest and then include bodyweight strength exercises and speed and agility drills. These aim to develop your biomotor abilities to move more functionally as well as those that will contribute to your development as a jumper. 5. Some intervals will include more light-hearted and fun games (although they'll still give you a workout). Relays, races and double dutch keep the workout going without you realising you're putting work in.
