I Teach Ashtanga Yoga , the classes are led and counted in Sanskrit.
Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic flowing practice where you move with your breath, focussing on the breath, and Bandha (energy locks), and drishti (looking place). The postures are put together in an intelligent sequence which means that each posture opens your body for the next one. The postures are joined together by vinyasa which allow you to flow from posture to posture, one breath at a time.
When practised with awareness this is a very transformational style of yoga. I have been practising Ashtanga Yoga for 20 years and teaching for 6. I have been fortunate to have practised with mainly certified and level 2 authorised teachers, and all of my teachers worked closely with Patthabi Jois who is the founder of this practice.
I was authorised by his son Manju Jois to teach primary and intermediate series last year. I did my TT with John Scott who I endeavour to practice with at least once a year .
