In my yoga classes I offer a practice that will support you to feel more relaxed and at ease in yourself. Yoga is very effective for unravelling the physical and emotional stresses of daily life. Imagine feeling calmer, more grounded, kinder and more accepting towards yourself, your body softer, more open and alive. These are just some of the many benefits yoga can bring to your life.
I love that yoga is such a versatile practice and I am passionate about making the practice accessible and pleasurable for everyone. I am always happy to help people adapt the practices to really meet their own individual needs. Whatever your age and however your health yoga offers ways to nourish and restore your energy and well-being.
In my classes I tend to work quite slowly, usually starting with floor work to begin to release and lengthen the spine, connect with the breath and begin to mobilise and ‘hydrate’ all the joints. From here we will explore postures and sequences that help build flexibility, strength, balance and integration. I like to repeat things over the weeks to help you become really familiar with the forms and to support you to grow your own home practice. I bring in a sense of curiosity and exploration as to how the practices impact on our bodies and minds, sometimes pausing to listen with awareness and sensitivity to our inner experience.
I have been practicing and teaching for more than 23 years. Initially trained in the Iyengar method, over the years I have studied and trained with many different teachers. I am especially grateful to Sarah Powers and Donna Farhi who have been real sources of growth and inspiration in my own practice and my teaching. More recently I have completed a 3 year diploma with Linda Hartley in Integrative Bodywork and Somatic Movement Therapy which also informs my approach to yoga.
