Penny Withers Studio is the first privately run studio in the West of Scotland to offer members of the public the opportunity to exercise using the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. Gyrotonic is a form of body conditioning developed by Juliu Horvath. The movements are performed on specially designed machines and are derived from yoga, tai chi, dance, swimming and gymnastics. Working one to one with our clients we focus on physical alignment and deep muscle control. Through an understanding of anatomy and physiology our qualified instructors encourage gradual, sustainable changes in alignment, mobility, posture, strength and breathing, thereby helping our clients become fitter and healthier in body and mind. Modern reliance on computers requires us to remain seated for long periods often contributing to poor posture, lower back pain and repetitive strain injuries. For those with problems, especially back pain or alignment issues, the low-impact rhythmic movements make the Gyrotonic system an ideal method of rehabilitation. Gyrotonic benefits include: Sculpting the body Activation and strengthening of core postural muscles An increase in flexibility and range of motion Improved posture and balance A reduction in stress levels An increase in energy levels Cardiovascular improvement General physical awareness Assists as part of a weight loss programme
