It has been an exciting 11 years trailblazing outdoor fitness.
We have worked with some of the greatest names in the world; Adidas, United Nations, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, COP22. We have brought our manufacturing to Britain, we’ve expanded into some of the greatest cities from Singapore to Sydney.
In all of this globe trotting we have seen the same problems - lifestyle related diseases and illnesses and climate change.
This experience and insight has encouraged us that we are on the right path – globally communities need activating! According to the World Health Organisation 1 in 4 adults don’t do 30 minutes of exercise per week leading to Type 2 Diabetes Heart Disease, Cancer and mental health issues. This subject is close to my heart as I have seen my own Father – also a founder of TGO suffer all three of these diseases. Thanks to diet and exercise he has thankfully come out the other side and is enjoying his 70s!
When we started in 2007, we set about breaking down barriers to physical activity. Indoor gyms were on the rise but there were no outdoor gyms in the UK and we were the first to bring them into the UK. Our first consideration was to create a safe and inclusive facility. We incorporated many of the best practices in play, inclusive fitness and indoor gyms to make a range that can meet everyone’s needs. This philosophy does set us apart as the current European standards just cater for users over a certain height whereas we recognise that everyone loves a TGO gym!
Between 2008 and 2012 we teamed up with Adidas and London 2012 to create 70 giant outdoor gyms to activate adidas’ Olympic sponsorship.
We were truly honoured to place our equipment on the Olympic rings and have our gyms opened by sporting giants like Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Daley Thomson!
We have always cared for the planet. We have always supported tree planting to offset our UK manufacturing, but we wanted to do more. In 2012, we invented Green energy gyms that recycle kinetic energy into electricity. We were honoured to have these gyms featured at both COP21 and COP22 the Global Climate Change conferences in Paris and Marrakech.
