The Sanskrit word Vinyasa translates to English as “to arrange something in a special way”, An example of this is where the students move from one pose to another, in time with their breath. Generally raising the head on an Inhale and lowering their heads on an Exhale. Another meaning of vinyasa describes a sequence of poses that are connected together, for instance Surya namaskar A or Sun Salutation A. There are many schools of yoga that are considered to be Vinyasa Yoga. Such as Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Baptise Yoga, Prana Flow and Power Yoga. This class will introduce the student to Ujjayi Breath, (Pronounced as oo - jai) translated as Victorious Breath and sometimes called Oceanic Breath, which both helps focus the mind and energising the body. Students will also become familiar with all the concepts and terms and proper aliment of the most common poses and sequences, such as Surya namaskar A, often used within a vinyasa yoga class. Helping the students to gain the confidence go on to developing a home practice of their own.
