This is a great way to make sure you are being strong in the posture, and therefore doing the posture correctly. It is fine to attend the class without weights too. We warm up the postures without additional weight, learning how to hold the body strong and how to make it stronger or softer. How to lift up while also surrendering down. I would recommend trying the class with a weight of about 1/8th your bodyweight. Less is fine, and more is optional if you have a strong practice.
