Classes are inspired by our study of classical teachings of Hatha yoga in disciplines that include Iyengar, Ashtanga, Sivananda, Satyananda, Krishnamacharya and Dona Holleman's enlightened asana work. Hatha yoga focuses on the physical (asana) and pranayama (breath work) aspects of yoga. Hatha yoga can be powerful, gentle, dynamic and restorative. It can be practiced in many ways including vinyasa, yin or mala approaches. We are inspired by a broad range of classical Hatha practices weaving their forms and expressions into the classes.
Open classes include Pranayama (breathing exercises), deep stretches and a flowing asana (posture) sequence and guided relaxation. Standing, Inverted, forward bends, back-bends, sitting, balances and twists are practiced.
Open classes are suitable for all levels except for complete beginners (if you are a complete beginner we recommend you enrolling on one of our beginners courses).
