Yoga Nidra is perfect for all levels of yoga students, as it focuses on deep relaxation through a process of guided visualisation.

In this class, you will be lead through gentle yoga postures, followed by a tension release practice in preparation for deep relaxation in shivassana.

In Yoga Nidra you learn to relax consciously by turning inwards, away from outer experiences. It is not necessary to concentrate but to simply observe yourself inwardly and be aware of every experience that occurs in the visualization. The idea is to reach a state of relaxed awareness, the threshold place between sleep and wakefulness, where contact with the subconscious and unconscious dimensions occurs spontaneously. This is sometimes referred to as Yogic Sleep or Dynamic Sleep but is not ‘sleep’ as we know it.

The practice of Yoga Nidra has two main benefits: Firstly to facilitate complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation and therefore can be used as a means to de-stress, sleep better and relieve inner tension. Secondly, with regular Yoga Nidra practice it is possible to bring to life deep-rooted desires, ambitions or intentions by focusing on a resolve made whilst in this place of relaxed awareness. It has been said that through this technique powerful change can happen.
