Ailsa and Sophie really enjoyed co-teaching - passing the baton of leading and Djing music for a session of conscious dance. We were left feeling that co-leading is a great way to work. So here's our offering!...
Dance, move and feed your soul with varied and beautiful music from around the world.
It is a space to move and dance together and nourish body, heart, mind and breath.
We will offer approaches from Dancing Freedom and Movement Medicine that will help you access the wisdom, vitality and creativity of your body and imagination. These are ways of experiencing whose power cannot be accessed through the intellect alone or indeed alone, we need companions along the way to feel this greater sense of wholeness and connection.
No need to have ‘dance experience’, there are no moves to learn.
Both these practices are designed for both beginners and experienced movers and sessions are held by fully qualified teachers of Movement Medicine and Dancing Freedom.
More than anything this is a space to simply dance - juicy, tender, hearty, gentle, energetic, still, wild, vulnerable, joyful, sad, celebratory dances and many more … at your own pace.

‘Dance connects us – with our bodies [hearts and minds] … with each other, with the space within and around us and with the spirit of life. It gives us breathing space away from the noise of our busyness. In that space we come into deeper alignment with ourselves and our own intuitive knowledge. The answers to our inner dilemmas often simply drop into place. Movement Medicine quietens our mind and shifts our attention to the realm of possibility.’ (Susannah and Ya’Acov Darling Khan, Movement Medicine, xvi)
Movement Medicine is a meditational and uplifting practice that gives us direct, embodied experience of the dance of life that’s going on inside us and all round us. It is rooted in ancient wisdom and modern understanding of how change happens.
Whatever your level of experience, age or condition, conscious movement practice is a force for creative expression and mindfulness in day to day life. It’s where movement, meditation and energy converge - and movement becomes ‘medicine’ – a curative power!
In an often busy and challenging times I provide spaces to re-connect with ourselves, each other the surrounding environment. I work from in depth training in Bodyweather (practiced since 2000) and Movement Medicine (teaching and facilitating since 2011) and I bring an artist and performer’s sensibility to the design of workshops. I have found this work necessary for creative action and everyday wellbeing and as well as teaching my wildfeet programme I really enjoy DJing for dance events and parties.
Dancing Freedom is a guided moving meditation practice inspired by the five elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether. It’s an invitation to come home to the reality and magic of our very human life. We all dance, every time we take a breath. It's something everyone - men, women, children and elders can all do and done together, as a community it builds joy, ease and confidence for all. IT FEELS GOOD. It feels like FREEDOM.
About Sophie: http://www.dancingfreedom.com/tag/sophie-bolton/
Witnessing the uninterrupted flow of a small child dancing – totally random and totally natural; a pure expression of play gives me inspiration every time I hold a dance meditation session. I have taught yoga asana, meditation and relaxation (since 2009) and have always had, as far back as I can remember, a deep desire to dance/move to music as soul-food. It brings me the greatest pleasure to facilitate Dancing Freedom as a form of meditation and soul nurturing (since 2014).
