Sedentary lifestyles, stress, illness an injury can all cause in balance in the way that we move and function.
Over time, our muscles adapt to these faulty movement patterns often resulting in joints being permanently held out of alignment, correct boy structure being lost and stiffness and pain becoming part of our everyday lives.
Pilates is designed to bring the body back in to alignment by establishing correct muscle recruitment and addresses in balance by stretching and strengthening muscles in an 'all over body' approach.
Re-educating the body in this way prevents injury which is why Pilates is considered an extremely effective method of achieving and maintaining physical fitness. Pilates is also suitable for patients recuperating from a variety of injures and ailments such as Osteoporosis, Scoliosis, Slipped (prolapsed) or Bulging Discs.
What to expect...
The Improvers classes are for those who have completed the beginners course or have previous experience. More varied exercises and the use of small equipment will start to provide challenge and variation as you build upon the basics learnt in the beginners course. Options are provided for many of the exercises so that you can work to your own level.
You can wear anything you like to do Pilates as long as it's not too baggy and you can move around safely and comfortably. Please wear socks, trainers are not required. Mats and equipment are provided but please bring along water if you would like to.
