Unit B, Dean Street, Bristol, City of Bristol, BS2 8SF, United Kingdom
Aikido Katokan Bristol is an Aikikai affiliated club. Yvonne and Patrick are your instructors who both have decades of practice behind them. We belong to the Mutokukai network which has links to Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. We follow their Aikikai grading system.
We take care to make sure students learn to fall and roll safely so we gradually enable people to achieve a level of dynamic movement. Training develops flexibility, fitness, posture and confidence. You will do warmups and flexibility work, practice techniques with a partner, as well as learning how to use the wooden practice samurai sword, and the staff.
Aikido is a 20th century martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969). He developed Aikido to promote peaceful relations between people through cooperative practice of Aikido as a ‘way’ of living.
