Dance: Join us on the dance floor for a dynamic and energetic fusion of pan-African and Samba Reggae-inspired choreography… with live drumming! This is a high intensity dance style that will improve conditioning, flexibility and strength. All this while having loads of fun! Taught by dance teachers Ellie Lewis and Rachel De Garang. Ellie has trained in Senegal and danced with Hamana (Guinean Theatre Company) and brings an infectious level of enthusiasm to the classes. Rachel has recently been training training in Brazil with Rosangela Silvestre and has returned fresh and inspired with new ideas! --- Drum: Join a friendly group of drummers and learn to play traditional Brazillian Samba and African rhythms as well as some more modern hip hop and funk pieces. All instruments are provided. Samba drumming is energetic, cathartic and a great way to improve co-ordination and sense of well-being. Drum class is for drummers only. Before drum class opportunity exists to play for the dancers and support the dance class (optional). Drum teachers Jordan Packham and Michael Grant both play with the excellent Jamma de Samba and are well known for teaching samba classes and workshops. --- No experience necessary; complete beginners welcome! Opportunities exist for performance at festivals and events. All classes operate on a drop-in basis. There is parking at city academy in front of the Sports Centre.
