Ashtanga vinyasa at Soulfit is a dynamic asana practice inspired by the Primary Series sequence (Yoga Chikitsa) established by Krishnamacharya and popularised in the West by Pattabhi Jois.Traditionally the Primary series follows the sequence of sun salutations, standing series postures, seated series postures and the finishing sequence. A led class is typically 90 minutes whilst the Mysore style of regular ashtanga yoga (self-guided practice) can take anywhere from 90 minutes to 150 minutes.In our one hour class together at Soulfit, our teachers will lead you through a sequence following the main principles of Ashtanga yoga including the opening and closing mantras, the tristana and a selection of asanas from the primary series to give you a flavour of the transformative nature Ashtanga yoga provides.
