The Get Bouldering session is our adult introduction to bouldering. It is 1 hour long, and will be led by one of Boulder Brighton's friendly and experienced instructors. We'll start by getting everyone fitted out with a pair of climbing shoes to help tackle the walls - these should be snug but not too tight, so if you're not comfortable at any point just let us know! Then it's on to a warm up, following which we'll introduce participants to the huge variety of climbing available at the centre, including an overview of important safety information and a run-down of the in-house grading system and coloured circuits of different difficulties.
Because there are no ropes or harnesses to worry about, a bouldering intro can quickly focus on climbing movement and techniques, so we will pass on our top tips for how best to approach climbs of different angles and a few tips for tackling some more technical moves for any members of the group who seem to be getting on with it well. There's no pressure to climb harder or higher than you're comfortable with, but we'll do our best to keep everyone climbing at the right level for them.
There will be up to 6 people in the group, all of whom will be at roughly the same point in their climbing careers and could end up being climbing friends for the future. It's a very social sport and you'll inevitably find yourself asking for advice and sharing your own tips with complete strangers if you visit regularly.
At the end of the session, you'll be free to carry on climbing until the centre closes - if your arms have anything left in them! You'll probably find a first session quite a big workout, so we recommend that you warm down well at the end of the day before going home. Our on-site cafe is a great place to sit and let your fingers recover with a cup of tea.
