At BarreFlies there are two distinguishable types of classes, each incoporating a range of movements and functional training principles that complement one another as well as other fitness programmes offered outside of the studio. Just as fascia is constantly remodeling, each body 'story' is different. So feel free to dip in and out of these different modalities, knowing that there is one goal - movement ease with joy.
1) Matwork "Core" classes:
Pilates & Fascia Flow (no music)
Give Pilates another chance! No teacher will ever give you the same experience of Pilates. Recognising the synergy of muscles and fascia (our largest sensory organ) Amanda merges Contemporary Pilates styles, including Menezes Method (Aussie Pilates) with fascia-focused training. These exercises strengthen in all kinds of ways: active and relaxed lengthening with consciously releasing muscles. The movements are multidirectional and the results are boundless.
Floor-Barre (110-126bpm) Core stabilisation and general muscle toning exercises are differentiated, and of course, are three-dimentional! Barre movements (plie, releve, battements and retire combinations) are adapted for the mat. These are combined with myofascial training techniques - namely stabilising, toning, pushing, pulling, counter-traction, active lengthening and expansion - to promote versatile muscle conditioning. The result? Fascia is more resilient, joint alignment is optimal and balanced core strength and core stabilisation promote a sense of stability and groundedness.
2) Fitness classes
Improve your fitness by repatterning contemporary workout styles through fascial adaptations. Enjoy a range of low impact exercise-to-music workouts that incorporate the grace of ballet and alignment of yoga with the finesse of Pilates. Includes a short matwork section to focus on upper body (deep core-abdominals and/ or arm lines). Best if you would prefer to focus on technique.
Cardio Barre (135-145bpm)
Primarily the same focus as the BarreConcept® workout, however the cardio format involves longer sections of barre choreography and more isometric contractions to raise the heart rate. Expect an energetic 45minute express format - longer format (55mins) includes a short matwork section.
